About Jes

With 14 years behind the chair, Jes brings equal parts experience, curiosity, science, and personality to everything she creates. A graduate of Paul Mitchell The School in Fayetteville, NC, she believes every salon she has worked in and every guest who has trusted her with their hair has played an important role in shaping the stylist she is today. A self-described “Jes of all trades,” she especially loves color and cutting, and the more challenging the appointment, the better. Color corrections are genuinely exciting to her, and behind the chair you’ll find her working with everything from precision and razor cutting to alternative shapes and completely customized color. Her approach is what she calls “science vibes and honesty.” Jes considers the goal, but also what the hair will realistically allow, what will complement the guest, and what will actually work with their personality, lifestyle, maintenance routine, and budget. If something isn’t going to work, she’ll tell you, then help find the version that will. What Jes loves most about doing hair is that no two days, or people, are exactly alike. She loves the chemistry behind color, the technique behind a great haircut, and especially the opportunity to give someone a piece of themselves back. And if you walk in saying, “No one has ever gotten my hair right,” you may have just become one of her favorite appointments. She loves the challenge of figuring out why and finally getting it right. Her chair is meant to feel a little like coming home. Talk through your entire life story, sit quietly, laugh until neither of you can breathe, or simply vibe. There are no expectations about who you need to be when you’re there, although she does have one request: please, no head bobbling while she’s cutting your hair. Bring inspiration photos, bring your indecision, and bring your ideas. Jes will talk through the upkeep, styling commitment, budget, and whether that sudden urge for bangs is a new vision or a crisis decision before the scissors ever come out. Outside the salon, Jes is just as happily eclectic. You’ll find her spending time with her husband and kids, drinking coffee, tending chickens and their newest additions, ducks, collecting plants, reading, embroidering, baking, cooking, or diving headfirst into whatever fitness hobby has her attention at the moment. Her inspiration comes from much the same place: a little bit of everything, because there’s far too much interesting stuff in the world to choose just one.
